At this time of the year the nation comes together to honour and remember the brave young men and women who gave their lives in the two world wars. Every year there are fewer and fewer survivors who can tell their stories and remind us of the horror and futility of war.
After the 'war to end all wars' we hoped for lasting peace but World War II came along all too soon. Over a million people lost their lives in those two conflicts but it seems we still live constantly with the threat of war. We must not forget the brave service men and women who have lost their lives and suffered life changing injuries in conflicts around the world in the years that have followed those two devastating wars.
Every year on Remembrance Sunday at 11am there is a service at the Wellington Memorial in honour of the young men who lost their lives in an air crash in World War II in the fields in Bodicote. Everyone is welcome to attend.
